Argos Playsand

This has prob been asked before but I was wondering has anyone had any problem with argos playsand in there aquarium.?

I have black quartz gravel in my aquarium was gonna add sand and do it in 3 stages cause i don't want to have to take my fish out an all an dont want to stress the fish to much..

Has anyone any opinions are anything??

The only thing I suggest you do is to not make the sand deep, It can make this black stuff and it smells bad. I don't know what it's called but it's horrible.
 
You'll have to remove the fish when you do it, You don't want the fish swimming in a sand storm. Not good for them.
 
Also make sure you give it a epicly good clean.

Would pool filter sand be better?

I don't see the difference. I use argos play sand in my 73L and it's fine!

I don't really want a horrible smell are where you saying that only happens if I don't clean it proper before putting it in.??

How deep of a bed of sand would u think , I was looking bout 2-3 inches are would that be to much??

I really like my sterbai corys an I think the sand will show them better than the black gravel...

I would put just under what I have in my tank, I had much more than that in my 200L and yea that's why it happen.

If I clean the sand really well then I won't get the smell are black stuff??

The cleaning is just so it's clean and you don't get cloudy water, rinse it thoroughly.
 
The horrible smell is from anaerobic bacteria that grow in deeply compacted sand.  Give it a stir every few months and you'll be fine.  I recommend no more than 1.5 inches deep.
 
Personally I don't like play sand, it's very fine and compacts a lot, I took it out of my tank and use aquarium sand instead.

I use the Unipac sand and the Corys like this, the Senegal is the one I prefer, it is like a very fine gravel actually.  The black is nice too as it glistens with different blacks in it, but not used that one, Yet!
 
Also, Kuhli and Java Loaches are good as they keep it turned over by burying in it.

I just don't want to get sand in my local pet shop they charge £20 for small bags of it...

I have Silica sand in my tank two 20kg bags was plenty enough for a 5ftx2ft tank.
