So, tommorow morning I am leaving with my family to go camping in Alberta with our Aunt, Uncle and two cousins. We won't be back until next Sunday. The bettas are going the whole time without food, so I've been fattening them up on frozen bloodworms the past week. Tonight, I went to give the guys in the divided tank a couple pellets as their last meal, and...OMFG, HOW COME THERES AN EMPTY SPACE?!?!?! I looked over at Flares section (my orange spot VT) and saw Pebbles (my brother's fish) happily swimming back and forth at the top of the tank, and his fins were in complete shreds! Poor Flare was cowering behind an ornament in the back (his fins are shredded too). Pebbles got it worse then Flare. Most (but not all!?!? They must of been hungry... ) of Pebbles fins were at the bottom of the tank :-( So I seperated them, and THANK GOD they are acting normaly, I'm going to feed them in a few minutes. I did a water change because I know clean water will lower the chance of them getting fin rot or something. I also added salt and Melafix (about 2 mL of melafix). This sucks because I won't be home to monitor them and make sure their fins don't get infected. I can't do anything about it. I hope I don't come home to dead bettas...it wouldn't of been as bad if this happened some other day, but why today? I guess I should be thankful that it didn't happen when I was away! But anyways, I laid plastic canvas across the top of the tank, under the hood, so they won't be able to do that again. I don't know how they did it in the first place, there is practicly NO ROOM between the lid and the dividers. Less then 1/4".

So hopefully I won't come back here in a week with my first post being "RIP bettas". I'll update you guys when I get back.

Edit: I don't have a pic right now, but Pebbles looks like nashnut's guy who jumped the divider, not as bad though. Flare's fins aren't as worse as Pebbles.

Can you get a pet-sitter in? When my fish Admiral jumped out of his tank and was near death (leaving him was absolutely not an option) I had a friend who watched over him when I had to leave for a couple of days. She only charged $5 and she did a great job with Admiral, who has made a full recovery and is now happily guarding his nest.
