I have been useing dry bloodworm for a while now and thought i would try the frozzen blood worm. And every time i use it my hands and face come out in these white lunps and my skin inches. I've just fed my fish with the gry bloodworm that comes in tubs and i've notice i've come out in these white lumps on my belly and face does any body else get this or is it just me? I now now there is something in it that irritates my skin. :(

I wouldn't know, I don't rub them on my face / belly

Why not just use a spoon to get it from the tub to the tank?

No i'm not i just put them in a container to defrost, then use a piplette to add them to the tank.

my eyes get real blood shot and last time they even got puffy. my mom is now making me were gloves and makes sure i dont touch anything till i wash my hands.

Bloodworms may cause allergic reactions. If you MUST use them in your tank, you have several options:

1) have someone else add them in
2) use gloves and/or a surgical mask (especially if you are using dried) and wash your hands thoroughly afterward
3) use an antihistamine prior to coming near it, and this is still not a guarantee that it will help and if anything will make you groggy. SH

I'm not allergic to them. I'm only allergic to cats and hay. If I was allergic to this, I'd be screwed, cause bloodworms is what I feed my bettas to condition them.

I'm not allergic to them, but my LFS owner is. If she hasn't taken her allergy meds it can actually cause her to have trouble breathing, along with the itching and swollen eyes.

I'm allergic to them. I get itching, watery eyes, running nose, the usual fun stuff. I feed bloodworms with tweezers. That works well for me. If I know I'm feeding them Bloodworms that day, I'll also take an allergy medication.

cant you find a different food for your fish that you arent allergic to? brine shrimp and live blackworms work really well, but im not sure if you would be allergic to this

Wow, so many people allergic to bloodworms. Are they are other fish foods that people have allergic reactions to?

Luckily for me, I'm not allergic to bloodworms. When I fed my fish them for the first time, I actually thought they smelled good... like hotdogs... mmmmm.

...does anyone know what's in the bloodworms that causes the allergic reaction???
well aren't they just mosquito larvae? cuz if that's the case most people are allergic to mosquito bites, maybe it's the same thing... i mean when i touch them my fingers do kinda feel weird. but on my bottle (the dry ones) it says right on it "do not let this come in contact with the skin" haha i read this AFTER i touched them :look:

Bloodworms are just mosquito larva. Anyone know why they are called blood worms? I am very allergic to mosquito bites, but have never had a problem with bloodworms, though it is the only fish food I won't let my kids help me with.
