I had a few apple snails, but were told they need at least 2 gal of tank to themselves (very messy) and get up to 6". So I put them out in my pond, and went to the lfs and got a Mystery snail. According the tag, they only get up to 2".
I'v e seen some websites who say these are the same, some who don't.
What's your opinion? Did I just replace one apple snail with another???

Some say there the the same thing but they knd of are and kind of not. Mystery snails are a type of apple snail but they arent the same thing.

:X tell me that you still know where those apple snails are. tell me that you put them in a man-made pond isolated from the local waterways... apple snails are a highly undesirable, invasive species that are restricted in most states. they will destroy local vegetation.

please do NOT release ANY aquarium species into the wild and be careful what species you put in any man-made bodies of water.

Apple snails has a lot of subspecies, the most common of which are pomacea canaliculata and pomacea bridgesii. The former gets as big as baseballs, the latter golfballs. They need at least 2.5 gallons per snail, I think. Sometimes they're called mystery snails. applesnail.net has more info.
