I found these guys at Petco for 1.60 something, so they probably aren't, though thats what I thought they were at the time. Are they just a color variation of a molly, or do I have something special?

I will try to get better pictures, sorry for the blurryness!

Just look like regular platys to me.. I have a few with that black spotting on them.. I do not believe platys and mollys can hybridise.

Oh, ok, I guess they are just platies then. :) I have never had platies before, but I have had mollies, so I guess that is why I was wanting to call them mollies, lol.

Mollys and platys cannot conventually cross. :good:

Nice fish thogh. :)

although mollies and platies are in the same family, they are from different genuses and can't cross. However, a platy can cross with a swordtail. A molly can hybrdize with a guppy (although they come out sterile)

I think the third one is a micky mouse platty - I kept these for a while along with about a hundred other ones. Plattys are great :).

I crossed a Mickey Mouse platy with a wagtail and got some that looked very like the dalmation pattern on the top one. Also some regular Mickey Mouse and some wagtails.
