are these fish hybrids?

it would help is we knew the name of the fish, their most definately cichlids, im just gunna throgh an answer out there and say yes they are hybrids. i could be very wrong as i dont keep cichlids and am by no means and expert, but it looks to me that the fish share traits of a couple pretty common species of cichlids (who names i dont know). but the fact that the 2 fish in the first picture are 2 differant colors leads me to belive they are not from the same spawn, they may be pretty common, i dont know, post those pics on a cichlid forum and see what they have to say.

as u have probably figured out by my awful grammer, im a complete moron and probably have no idea what im talking about. if this info ur looking for is very important please ask someone else to as i truly have no idea.

It appears to me by the body shape that those are African Cichlids and they come in a wide variety of colors due to interbreeding of the species. Most LFS label them as "mixed African Cichlids" which is a bad thing to do because some breeds are more aggressive then others. The yellow one maybe a yellow johani (don't quote me on that) and the bluish one could be an elertric blue johani that is a color morph (happens when they cross breed) bu t once again I am not sure with out the scietific name. These are mid tempered African cichlids that can be territorial towards other fish in your tank. If you have them in a community tank, you could loose a few of the smaller fish when they get larger. They usually get around 5 inches in length. Good luck and I hope this helps. Like Guppy Dude said, try this post in the Cichlid Forum for a more percise identification of them.

wow, I forgot about this thread.

actually the are both Ice blue zebras, the yellow one is a female, and now has her colors, and the blue is the male in the middle of his change.

and no they were not from a mixed tank.

lol, when I read "Whats a Hybrid" I was looking at the Simpson picture, and I heard the kids voice pop up in my head..

A Hybrid is when two fishes that are different from one another breed.
