Yes when they get bigger, they will eat anything that fits in there mouth. they get very big

As beesnees said, they will consume everything in your tank once big enough, including ornaments/plants (don't let your children feed them ).
Once they've got some mass on them they'll then brake through the glass and come and eat you in your sleep (ok not really but I've run out of ideas on how to warn people NOT to buy these fish! )

They are extremely harmful to your wallet and put strains on marriages/relationships, 1000 gallon tanks don't come cheap you know.
