Hi I have some platies and some of them looked pregnant so I was wondering if they are? If any of them are does anyone know how long until they give birth and which ones are). I also have a black molly which I’m pretty sure is pregnant and about to give birth anytime but just wanted to double check. Thanks

Need a better pic of the black one.
The rest are

Unless you see white stringy poop coming out of her or the others she sure is pregnant. Now you should decide if you want to keep the fry and if so what is your plan.

Here’s a closer picture hope this works
It's possible, to me that one looks more like a black lyre tail balloon mollie.
Has she always been fat like that?
When viewed from above do her scales stick out like a pinecone?

My main tank is 50 gallons. Whenever I think a fish is pregnant I move them to a 45 gallon with a lot of hiding spots for the fry to hide. Haven’t been that good at being able to tell so I wanted to double check

She’s always looked pretty big like that but about a month she gave birth to about 70 fry (I didn’t even know she was pregnant) and i was stupid and did a water change hours after they were born and all but 6 died but she never shrunk in size after giving birth which I read the gestational was about every month and tomorrow will Be exactly a month since she’s given birth

That is one big fry tank :good: , I would add some floating plants to also give fry a place to hide, my tetra fry love to hide there or under moss balls. It would also help absorb ammonia and improve the quality of the water.

Thanks. I’ll look into that. Usually I just put my pregnant fish in there because I am bad at telling when a fish is squared off or anything so I rarely use a breeder box and I’ll move the fry into a 10 gallon until they can go in the main

:hi:Same here, welcome!

No, a balloon molly looks different in bodyshape.
