Hi guys,

I know you are all probably over this question, but this is my first tropical tank so I'm still excited about it.

I initially had one pair of mollies, one male yellow dalmation, one female yellow.  The male chased the female around endlessly and always nibbled at her underbelly.  After reading that males should have more than one female, I purchased another three females: one white, one black, one dalmation.

I THINK the yellow female may be pregnant based on the behaviours exhibited.  I also suspect the female dalmation is pregnant because she looks huge.  Just wondering if anyone could confirm this?

I've attached some photos of both for you.

I also think some of the platties I have (I bought 6 red female platties) may also be pregnant.  I have no male platties so I'm guessing they were pregnant when I got them.  There are a couple pics of them.

OR - I'm just totally wrong and they are fat because I feed them too much??? LOL

Cheers :)

Some pics of the dalmation molly.

And pics of the platties

Yes!
Female live bearers are always pregnant! They can give birth up to 6 months after without a male present so your platies can be pregnant too.
When the mollies take on a kind of square appearance then they are close to giving birth. If you look at them side on their bellies look a bit like this \__/

I would say the dalmAtion will give birth first.

As long as you have male mollies they are pregnant. Your female platy looks pretty big, but the mollies don't look very large.

Thanks guys.

I have 6 female platties, so I am assuming that a couple were already pregnant when I got them from the LFS.

I only have one male mollie, but I assume he's getting around a fair bit.
