Are my guppies eating white clouds?

Hi, I’m a newbie. Had 5 white clouds & 2 male guppies in a 5 G tank. Found one wc dead a few days after purchase. A week later, one vanished & now another is gone. I am thinking the two died & the others ate him. I must have found the first quickly. I have yet to use my API test kit & will tomorrow.

yeah what are your params?
if they are dying make sure to check often so the other fish dont get diseases from touching dead fish

Not sure what you mean by params. They are in a 5 gallon tank.
filtered, no heater. water temp ~ 73. Fed flakes 2X a day.

idk. Plan to use API test kit for first time tomorrow. Just took pH. 7.1

Did you cycle the tank? Do you have live plants? And how often do you perform water changes?

It could be just not enough room in the tank. I wouldn't keep white clouds in anything smaller than 10 gallons, as with a smaller tank they get stressed out from not having enough swimming room. With that many fish in a nano tank, the ammonia will spike quickly and that harms the fish. Since you feed the fish twice a day, they are producing that much more waste.

I would do twice weekly (at least) water changes of at least 50% until you can get a bigger tank, and maybe feed only once a day or once every other day. Small tanks are just much more delicate and unstable when it comes to water parameters.

My betta is in a 10 gallon tank. Would he be ok in the 5 gal one?
how many guppies & white clouds would work best in the 10 gal tank? Thanks.

yep thats a good one.
ph might be a lil low for guppies they like it a looot higher

For a 10 gallon tank, you could do maybe 5 white clouds and maybe 3 or 4 guppies. The betta would more than likely do fine in the 5 gallon, as he has a smaller bioload.

Almost every fish has the potential to take a bite from a dead fish. So, guppies as well. That's quite normal.

Same with shrimp and snails....scavengers aren't picky
