Ok this is whats going on, my black skirt tetras have white spots all over them, and i ve also noticed that my other fish have some spots what is it?! is it bad are they sick what i dont want any thing to happen to them.
yep definitly white spot/ich should be okay as long as it hasent been on the fishes for very long, mines had them but as soon as I realed it was white spot I added some medication and in a week they were good again
When my fish get ich I give them a salt bath and water change 10% daily till its gone. It usually goes away in about a week. Since I've been treating this way I haven't lost a single fish!
that is ich for sure, i just had a bad case rip through my community tank with some deaths
but depending on the type of fish you have you can either add meds or add salt
The early signs of ich is fish scratching themselves on decorations in the tank when the spots are visible its in a later harder to treat stage but still very possible.
corys, plecs and clown loaches do not use salt it will hurt them
and do regular 25% water changes with increased temp as it speeds up the life cycle of the ich making the med. and salt more useful as it only kills the parasite in its free swimming stage
2 of my bettas have had Ich. When Mico had it (the roundtail) I had him in a lil plastic bowl, so I set-up the ten gallon and put him in there cranked the temp up to 82 and he was fine. The other betta in the 10 also had it and I did just the same and it went away within 4 or 5 days! HTH
