Are My Fish Poorly Again?

I have a 127 Litre tank which has now been going about 7 weeks. I have 3 Danios, 2 Platy's who have since had two babies that survived.

Tonight watching my Danios swim, I see the back halfs of their bodies seem a bit lower in the water. They are still lively and swimming around and have eaten well, but it's like their tail section is boomeranged (if this makes sense).

I have only just stopped the treatment for Velvet.

could this be a sign of velvet? I can't believe they are poorly again.. the Platy's seem fine. I feel like I can't get it right, even though I am doing daily water changes and my readings are ok.

Do you mean it looks like there tails weighing them down in the water as that can be a sign of swim bladder.

Yes that's just what it is. It's weird, I put some Tubifex worms in (dried ones) and they went bonkers for them, but since then they looked poorly. Could there be a connection?

Is there anything I can do? I so want them to be happy and well. The platy's seem well and happy. The Danios have been poorly pretty much ever since I got them wth one thing or another.

I won't feed tubilex worms there not worth the risk.
Dried foods stopped buying them as my fish would bloat up with them.
Freeze dried tubilex worms are meant to be save I think.

Has the fish bloated up aswell.
I would feed some peas.

According to this link freeze dried foods can cause swim bladder and constipation.
Are you over feeding the food.

Wilder you are amazing, yes it seems the gauged a little on the dried Tubifex worms. I seem to remember after treating them a little while ago, they seemed odd after. I think I will bin the rest of it.


Yes the do look a little bloated. I am guilty of putting maybe a little more than I normally do (I feed once a day) as I didn't want them to eat the two little babies. So I put a pinch and a bit in. I will go and cook some peas.

It's not especially bad at the moment, they are slightly curved, but because I watch them closely I see small differences.

Don't bother with the dried foods I stopped buying them as they were not good for my fish.
I feed frozen foods.
Just feed the peas and not feed anything else for two days.
The fish don't have bent spines do they.

No just their tails look heavy in the water.

Will do on the peas. do you know how many peas I should put in?


They do look a little chubby .. so I am wondering if they are constipated.

Depends on how many fish you have in the tank.
Just cook a few peas for a few minutes, let cool down and pop out of shell.
Need to get the pea out of its shell as the fish can't digest the shell.
Mush between fingers into small pieces and add to the tank.
Peas are a laxative for fish.

I have two Platy's and three Danios. It's just the Danios that are showing signs of not being 100%

When you say danio are not 100% can you discribe what going off with them so we can find out what making them ill.

Only the droopy tail thing, other than that they swim and are lively etc and seem fine.

I wouldn't feed any freeze dried foods to see if that makes a difference.
Don't over feed I did it in the past and payed the price for it.
