i have two female chery barbs and they have both gotten big in the belly my sister in laws has aswell i give them a diet of all sorts of foods including live and veg. I asked on here before about my sister in laws and we thought it was constipated but nothing has worked with hers and now mine have gone like it. Any ideas as to what it could be or is it just the way they are?

Yes, as was said last time, it is the normal state of affairs for female barbs to be deeper and wider then males, often extremely so. In a community tank, they will scatter eggs regulaly, but will eat them as will everyone else. To breed Cyprinids, you really need seperate male/female quaters and seperate breeding tanks.

the females get bigger than the males. If you have lots of plants and hiding spaces, you can probably get a fry or two to survive in your main tank, but it's better to breed them in a separate tank because they eat their own eggs.
