I had a death today, one of my catfish. I have 2 others in the tank and they're starting to look ill too (also one of my loaches).

They seem rather sleepy but apart from that they're nothing obvious wrong with them.

My water had tested fine - plus i habe had some fry hatch and they're swimming happily - so I just don't know what to do.

The catfish are my favourite in there but i just don't know what's wrong with them!

Help!!

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like a general problem with the tank as several fish are unwell. Do a big 60% water change -may help and certainly can't do any harm. You also need to test the water properly with an API test kit and get exact value sfor yur ammonis etc, not jut "water is fine" from lfs.
  • How long has tank been set up?
  • Have you added any new fish lately and perhaps introduced disease to your tank? If so better dose with meds ilke EDHA 2010 as a precaution
  • What species of catfish ar ethey? Maybe the diffferent species you have need different temperature, pH etc and your tank conditions don't suit them all.
  • Have
any fish been bullied?

I tested the water myself with an API kit.

Surely if the water was to blame my fry would die?!

There are 30 other fish in there and they are fine, I might just take the ill 3 out and treat them in a seperate tank.

I'll also got some of the meds you recommend and treat my main tank too just in case.

What type of catfish do you have because some catfish are "naked" and have no scales. This makes them easy targerts for parasites. Do everything Fishnovice said and look for parasites. Good luck!
