Hi, I have a 1" bristlenose in my 300L community tank. I've had it for 2 months now, but it doesn't seem to have grown much at all.

Are they known to be slow growers or does it depend on certain factors?

The tank stats are normal, ammonia/nitrite 0, nitrate 20, pH 6.6

I feed him algae wafers every day and cucumber once a week (though he doesnt seem to get much of it, as the clown loaches finish it before he gets a chance)

Just wondering how fast your bristlenoses grew and if it took a long time for them to reach maturity?

mines grew about 1inch in about 1month, i think it depends on the sex of them and how much algea they have got to eat.

Mine grew half an inch in about a month or so, maybe a little bit more. Hope this helps.

My two boys took about a 9 months to go from 2.5cm to about 8.5cm but my girl seems to have stayed small (7cm) maybe because the boys eat more food and don't let her get as much. They seem to be getting fatter rather than longer at the moment though. One of the boys get bristles after about 9 months while the other is still growing his and he would be at least one maybe one and a half years old now.
