I had a gorgeous 7 inch one 10 or so years ago.

I've never seen one since. Are they extinct?

I take it you are refering to the blue eyed panaque Panaque cochliodon,
they are not extinct but very hard to find in the trade and when you do they can be dearer than Zebra plecs

Apparently, the area they come from is deep within columbian drug baron terratory....

go in in a boat... get shot...

no-one goes in - no blue eyes come out.

available in the far east (Japan), i know a couple of keepers in Europe but they are fish that were imported way back.

what Russell said is right, collection is a NIGHMARE

used to called panaque suttoni I think.

Blimey and a real shame as well cos min was gorgeous from memory. a velvety sheen to the black.

I remember paying £12 for a 4 inch plec.....

about the same time I paid £25 for a zebra plec aswell!!!

There are some really nice looking blue eyed BN plecs on aquabid right now, never really seen that kind before. The bid was quite high already though :/
