Arcadio T5 Controller

I'm no electrical expert but given everything in computing gets smaller I have to wonder why this Arcadia T5 twin 54w unit I now have next to me has an eight inch long ballast???

It's huge and inconvenient to host - well - anywhere. I don't actually know where to put it either - there's no flat surface to lay it on except the base of the cabinet which has the filter consuming the space.

I've got one and yeh they are huge! not sure why but they are good controllers
