today i bought an arcadia 11 Watt unit. for my 60 litre tank. i will be getting 2 more. and have instantly noticed that they really do complement the colours of the shrimp. my cherry shrimp look so red under the light they could be mistaken for marine cleaner shrimps!

also i have 3 swordtails. that are orange and they look truly amazing under these lights as do the neons the iridescent colours of the neons look spectacular and i strongly advise these for small tanks

Arcadia tropical colour tubes bring the colours out nicely on the fish. 2 of my lfs use these tubes in there displays

I have these tubes in my rio 180 and 125 too

The arc pods are a nice bit of kit but the very early ones the chrome dulls down on them very quickly

Only down sides of the pods is the cost of the compact tubes (not everywhere keeps them in stock either)

I'm not a fan of the arc pods, they are expensive when you can get a desk lamp that takes the same bulbs and doesnt look badfrom ikea for half the price.

On one of my arc pods, the hinge connecting to the clamp broke too, and swear I barely nudged it! Also the reflective silver paint on the top seems so chip off very easily over time (maybe I just have early units).

Only down sides of the pods is the cost of the compact tubes (not everywhere keeps them in stock either)
You can get 6of them them for £14.05 here.

Or pop down to B&Q or any similar store that does lighting and pick out a colour to your taste, the best ones are the 'cool white' and 'daylight bulbs' as they look similar to aquarium bulbs. They are usually £2-£3 each.
