hey guys,
Just wondering what is the difference between the 2, Which one am i better off with??
My friend told me that i would be better off going for Aragonite gravel, reason was because it
is much cheaper.... Are they are other reasons?

aragonite is what I put in my tank (im a newb, so It may or may not be a good choice)

But it was 10$ for 10lbs.

Aragonite is better from an ecological point of view. Coral sand is called coral sand because it is just that, sand made from coral that has been ripped up, bleached in the sun then crushed. They both act as buffers and aragonite is cheaper in most cases.

Personally I would go with aragonite if you can get hold of that.

aragonite sand is better. Gravel is not a very good solution in my opinion, the large pieces of gravel let waste and other rotting organic matter sit int between the gravel pieces. I would go with a fine sand bed of aragonite.

You know, while building my 75 gallon kit, I searched for a week for marine sand and couldnt find any at all. I looked high and low- I finally gave up and got the marine gravel (aragonite)

they are the same thing except that the sand is ground up gravel. Both work as buffers, the gravel is easier to vacum, but sand IMO works better for filtration and looks more natural
