I am so so frustrated with my aquarium. Had one years ago that was a 75 gallon, this one is only 29 gallons. Was so excited to get back to an aquarium but I just dont know now. Went to Uncle Bills purchased the tank and everything that went in it, all accessories, well they said this Aqueon Cannister Filter with Water polisher was one of the best, stupid me belieived them and purchased it, have had nothing but trouble with it and they have had to replace it already. This filter is suppose to be so darn quiet but its not, it is constantly makeing a surge noise or like there is alot of air coming thru the lines And it gurgles? Just got them to replace it and cleaned the tank and everythig in it, cleaned the new filter and everyhting there, hooked it up and it was so so pretty till the next day, this is what it looks like now and there is only 2 glo fish in it. The water is so green when I contacted support on the filter they told me that I had a “bacterial bloom” have never heard of this. Can anyone possibly tell me what is going on here please

Bacteria blooms are normal in new aquariums. They clear up on their own.

When you fitted the new filter did you place the media from the old one into the new one?

If you didn't, you may well have restarted a new cycle and part of the cycle is a bacterial bloom with occasional diatom outbreak whilst the media is getting sorted with the good bacteria

How long exactly has the aquarium been set up?
How long exactly has the new filter been on there?
When you say you cleaned everything....explain how you did it?
What are your current/latest water chemistry results?
What is your normal maintenance routine?

No

Ni I used the new media Sorry i did not take all the water out of the tank I left about 1/3 water in there, but had to take everything out. It all needed a good cleaning. I fell like this filter is not doing the job its suppose to do the reason I say this is before they replaced the filter I cleaned the tank and then within a week it was so so dirty And even though theu sent me a new filter I still fell as if this one is not working right either. I dont understand the gushing of water coming out its not every once in a while its constantly

Filters should have a constant flow, that is normal.

If the filter was sputtering then you would need to check for airlocks or blockages and get rid of them...the new filter should have instructions as to how to maintain it and troubleshoot.

As for not using the old media in the new filter, chances are you will need to cycle the aquarium since the majority of the good bacteria needed lives on the media. You should not replace media til it literally falls to bits. Rinse media in aquarium water removed when doing weekly water changes, never wash anything under the tap as that will also be detrimental to the good bacteria

seems like the tank is just getting greener and greener thinking of getting a uv sterilizer any suggestions for a 29 gallon tank with 2 fish and a canister filter

It looks like you have a lot of algae on the glass which isn't bad for the fish but aesthetically unpleasing. As far as your canister filter goes, try to rock back and forth to get the air inside the canister out. I have heard larger aquariums are easier to take care of also.

And also try to add some snails for the algae, they work like wonders

There is no algea on the glass, I have rocked the filter so many times and a lot if sir does come out. Just dont understand how all the air gets in there.
