Where can one buy things like java moss/fern from local stores? Is this something I have to find at a specialty store, or will large chains of some sort have them?

I think you can get them at Big Al's... and lucky for me there is one like 45 min walk away

Sometimes it's hard to find but a lot of seller's on eBay sell them.Maybe look there?

Ideally I would like to find something local rather then over eBay.

I've never seen java moss at a store, ever. I bought my java fern at Petsmart a long time ago, but they don't always carry them. Many of the small LFS carry aquatics including java fern and can often order whatever you want.

I've seen java fern at every LFS I've been to.

never seen java mos sin my life i've been to liek 50 lfs (okay maybe around 4) and NOBODY has java moss
