Aquatic Frogs

Great link but there is no mention of providing land for them is it a necessity?

It's not necessary to keep land for them, but you can if you want. The frogs will probably like it, but make sure they don't get out or anything.

Great news better add a couple to my basket then!

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of possibly adding a couple of these to My 125l community: http://www.aquaticstoyourdoor.co.uk/Aquatic-Frog.html Can anyone tell me if the info within the link is correct as I know little of these but I have read that they do get mis-sold as another species.

Thanks

no need for land, but some bits sticking out the water will be fine. great stock to keep. be warned though. they can be picky eaters, often needing fed directly.---

Cheers Boboboy I've got a few things to try and a few lillies in the tank so should be ok I think. The little un' will enjoy trying to feed them!

they never need to go on land, and shouldn't, they dry out very quickly.
also they will be happier with a sandy substrate with a leafy bottom, like almond leaves. i wouldn't personally keep them on gravel like in the signature of oscar betta, they spend all their time there, it is rough and probably not too comfortable for them,
i have four in my girlfriends 125 litre, they are very active and love bloodworm.

ok, thats good! :good:

dont know where you are (ok york lol) but, if you like, i can send you a syringe and pipe (my daughter is disabled and i have plenty), that make the job, both fun, and accurate  :hyper:

Sounds like I have the ideal setup for these little fellas then as my Ph is around 7.2, temp can be modified a little and a nice well planted sandy subsrate tank, Cheers Guys for all the info!

That was when I first got them in their little take home bowl. They now have a smoother surface.

okie dokie, i wasn't having a go, just giving my opinion i guess! they look healthy enough in the picture! just couldn't imagine it being too comfortable sitting on rough gravel all day lol.
i have never had problems getting food to mine and i have fast eating fish in with them, they come out hunting down the bloodworm, they are fun to watch!

i do yeah, i also feed brine shrimp, and chopped prawns but they only eat the bloodworm. it is best to try and vary their diet but when they won't eat owt else you can't do much about it lol.
