Well, I don't have the little betta yet, but I bought the aquastart 320 for him today. It's got an under gravel filter which I'm guessing it will be fine for a male betta. I'm also contemplating some tank mates, but I know i need to be very selective for this. I'm sure that a good search will reap rewards, so thanks to everyone here who contributes so much information. Any advice on this setup will be greatly appreciated, this will be my first ever Betta.

i have two of those. i pulled out the undergravel filter though, they're crap
i have fluval 1s in mine, their a bit strong for bettas, my two seem to cope at the moment, lots of plants to cling on to! mine have the tanks to themselves save for a few red ramshorn snails.

tankmate wise, the tanks are about 7 US Gallons, which is still a bit weeny, you might be able to squeeze in otocinclus or pygmy corydoras (if you can find them) max of 3 though really i reckon, and some hiding places in case your bettas are anything like mine!

great tanks though.
