Hi all,
Is there anyone good at aquascaping nanos here? I need help because as you can see I am pretty pathetic at it and my structure is not ideal for placing corals in the tank which i will be getting soon (after my lighting :hyper: costs so much lol  ) Any comments will be appreciated (good and bad) on how i can aquascape my tank good and if i need more LR etc.

I know nothing of marine setups, I'm into my planted tropical FW tanks.... but I know one thing for sure. Get rid of that background!!!! Keep it simple, it will distract from whatever you are trying to do and when you do you may then realise that what you have is actually not that bad. Use a plain black or blue background.

i agree a nice blue back ground and some maybe smaller pieces of LR, i like lots of rock in the tank imo it looks better that way :)

A nice blue background is what's needed. And if you paint it a tester pot is only about £2. I had a small dulux tester tin of blue paint mixed in a DIY store, it was enough to cover my 4ft tank 5 times and only cost £2.10!! bargain!

**cough** black backgrounds are better than blue. **cough**

;)

Yea defo get rid of the pic background, it makes the tank look far too artificial! Ive always gone for a black painted background myself, never even thought of painting the back blue but I might just try it with my next tank sometime in the future as so many people seem to be recommending it!

Oh and as far as the aquascaping goes, ive always preferred an atoll formation © with raised peaks, this way you can have a small lagoon in the middle. Your rocks IMO look quite unstable and I would always be worrying about them falling and causing the galss to crack!

Agreed. A black Background would make it look 100% better instantly.

I would say you need a bit more rock in there. The layout depends on what you like. I personally like fairly open layouts that dont like the solid wall of rock along the back of the tank look (though when they are covered with corals this can look amazing). The plan for my marines tanks (granted this is only 1 so far and another one that is on paper) could be summed up with the words "caves and coves" :)
