Ok, so since I moved my common goldfish from his 20 gallon to his new 50, I have a 20 gallon tank open for some crowntail females that I special ordered arriving Friday. From what I can gather, it needs to be heavily planted, right? And some caves too?

I REALLY like the way BettaMomma's and xXMrBonesXx's tanks turned out, so I'm definitely going for the natural look. Are there any other tips or tricks that I should know about?

it all depends on what you like and the attitude of the female bettas you aquire, i have about 6 or 7 and i think one is a male short finned (not sure though) and they all get along fine so it was easy for me to make the tank the way i wanted it

Well....
If you're like me, to this point you've done everything fake. Plants, decorations, ect. This time I decided to make the leap to live things - but only plants. I went to PetSmart and found a driftwood that's fake (but it looks GREAT). I also got some beach pebbles and polished rocks and arranged them.

Then just go for plants like moneywort, and basically whatever else floats your boat - just remember that the girlies will like to hide out in it so whatever looks lumpy enough for them :)

Oh, and then go for natural gravel.
And 3fsh also pointed out to me that if you have plants like I do in my tank, the bulbs should be flourescent in the tank rather than incandescent.

Good luck, I can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

Ok, I just finished switching from gravel to sand, and it's about ready to be filled with water, aquascaped, and good to go. Hopefullly, tonight I will post pictures either right here or in another thread.
