Hi all
My hubby has just divided my 3 ft tank into 2 and was wonderig how long before i can put anything back in there?
Wasnt sure as it still really smells of the silicone
Thanks
Eve

48h is usually more than adequate, i often reuse after just a few hours.

HI ALL. like the others said 48 hours is enough and that smell is acetic acid (vinegar basically but dont go putting it on your chips though lol) so make sure you wash the tank very well to aviod poorly fish.
Im new on here and im a keen hobbiest on tropical fish and setups ive got and had quite alot of common and not so common fish amongst other things too.
So if anyone has any questions i will try to answer as correctly as poss :good:

i would say in most cases and assuming the thickness of the silicone is nothing out of the ordinary it would be fine after 24 hours, they say 48 hours to be safe, i built most of my tanks and have on numerous occasions filled up and had fish in not long after 24 hours!

If you can smell the silicone, and you are using it in a load bearing application, you must wait longer. Start waiting 48 hours, then make your call. If you are going to fill all the sections at once, you can use off the bat. If you are going to fill one at a time, you must wait for the smell to go, or the divider will blow out when getting towards full if there is nothing on the other side (like water to the same height) to support it
