Can plants survive in a tank which has been recently filled up with non-chlorinated water? or do you have to wait untill the tank has been cycled.

And are there anyways to speed it up without having to buy products?

Plants. What plants? Some will thrive in a brand new tank, others are more delicate. Most will do well, but it's good to be specific to save yourself money and frustration.

i haven't decided and want to set up the tank first. do you know any hardy plants that might survive longer? i'm also thinking of keeping small fish like guppies.

If you are having problems with calcium buildup, as you said in another thread, guppies are a good choice. I have extremely mineral poor, soft water here, and I have very little experience of plants that thrive in hard water. I'd start with a google search for plants that thrive in alkalinity or in hardwater conditions. I can't even imagine what plants are available in Malaysia.

well, most ive seen in pet stores are imported from other nearby countries. Even if they were from malaysia, they label the fish wrongly(at least the pet stores near my home)

It would help to know how big your tank is. Some plants that do well in hard water are also very large and will take over a smaller tank.
