Aquarists and angling

I have been fishing for a few decades now and it has helped me gain a lot of knowledge which I was able to put to good use when I began this new hobby.
Does anyone else have a fishing background,and was it the catalyst to become an aquarist?

I do a little bit of fishing in the pond on our property. We have a neighbor who stocks it every few years (even though it is private property and he doesn’t have permission, lol), and now it’s full of bass. I have never really caught anything big, and I don’t fish much. Just a few times every spring and summer

I used to go fishing as a kid and spent more time watching the fish than catching them. Eventually I gave up fishing because I considered it a blood sport and started keeping them in tanks.
