is this tank suitable to have sand as the substrate?

just wondered as ive been told in the past that in certain tanks you cant have sand in because of the filtration sytem taking water from the bottom of tank and because sand is so light it gets sucked up aswell.

If the tank has an Undergravel filter then the sand will quickly block it.
Most other filters should work fine with a sand substrate.

I have a 620, I don't have sand in it but there is no reason why you couldn't, if you found sand WAS getting sucked up the intake pipe, you could just shorten the pipe with a hacksaw a couple of inches, but I don't think you will even need to, the powerheads are not that powerful.
