Hi Guys,

Just wondering what you guys think of the Aqua One products, specifically their filters. I currently have a 60L tank with an Aqua One Clear View 300 http://www.aquaone.co.uk/filter_external.php#Clearview

It says its suitable for tanks up to 60L but i was thinking of getting one thats a bit bigger, would that be a good idea?

thanks

Go as big as you can afford.
Don't use the ammonia remover if they supply you with some. Ammonia remover is a small white granulated substance that is used to absorb ammonia form freshwater. It will inhibit the growth of filter bacteria and cause nothing but headaches.
There might be some white ceramic beads included and they will be OK to use. Ask you LFS what each item is. If they do include ammonia remover leave it out and put another piece of filter foam in the filter.

and how is aqua one as a brand? good quality?

Not a good filter at all, one of the really bad pad-type filters. The only god HOB in my opinion is the Aquaclear.

Aquaone as a brand aren't that bad... but as far as HOB filters go they're no better than any other.

I concur with funkyhoney about the Aquaclears being the best HOB filter.
