Iam intreged, ive never kept marine<shock>

I saw this on ebay, number- 280467908513

So question is, as it is mature set up and looks to be healthy with very limited stock, how would i go about caring for something like this, seriously i have not a clue, is it as hard as people say? just looks really nice and to have a couple of little clowns and they have a few box type fish in my lfs

What would i need to do to run a healthy tank and set up? as in what would i need to add to water and how to judge it?

you should read some journals of people setting up a tank, so you can get the idea of how to look after one. saltwater tanks are hard to keep but once its up and running its as easy as a freshwater tank. the tank is a good tank and a good amount to start off with. the bigger the better. remember to take your time.

Ah, ha, have we finally drawn you over to the salty side - could this be one of those extra tanks that you mentioned

Its a top rate tank Nelly but i would want to know exactly how much rock i was getting to make sure it is a bargain :good: and that you have enough rock - the rock is the heart and lungs of your tank, if you havent got enough your tank will not flourish.

Also ask if they have extra powerheads (i cant remember them in the ad (but thats not to say they were not mentioned :blush), any test kits, books extras.

Would make a lovely home for a pair of clowns :good: plus a few other fish of your choice - i would ask the seller to rehome the fish so you can start again.

If the tank is not far from you and you can transport the rock in water and store it in water until your tank is up and ready (SG and Temp) you may not got a cycle which would be a bonus. I suspect you probably have a holding vat or the like that you could keep the rock in until tank is ready.

You will need a new sand bed, aragonite, but thats not a problem, dont be tempted to keep theirs, you never know how much ammonia/detritus etc is in the bed.

Anyways, Nelly, I'm sure you will do your homework and ask any questions, we will be happy to help you

I thank you guys very much for taking the time, but i dont think this is for me, its too much involved and i havent got the time, fresh water for me is like making a cup of tea, however all this is too much :S and the water care and getting water from lfs,is to difficult with my job, reading also takes me a very very long time too...

maybe one day when i get more time but at present i shall just enjoy your tanks, thanks

does apear to be a good buy...

one thing to consider though, when buying someone elses tank you inherrit their problems

sometimes your better to buy equipment around what you want to keep too, with an all in one type tanks your sort of stuck with some of it.

all im going to say is......come on...come on lol no you could have a fish only thats almots the same as a freshwater tank. you can have live rock and you can have tapwater in fish only. its just a bit more equipment.
