All I had to do was cut the H tube that fits on the filter a little, so that the straight intake tube that extends down into the water didn't reach all the way down into the sand, sucking that up. This filter fits the 10 gallon like it was made for it and filters like it too. It gives just enough current EVERYWHERE in the tank to keep everything clean without knocking up sand or anything, and its very even current everywhere.

There are those who reduce the flow but there was no need to!

Wish I had known about this when this 10 gallon was saltwater! :grr:

It is really great. Never did I think it would work out as a 55 gallon full of 6 large fancy goldfish is what I originally bought it for. I was supplementing my Eheim 2217. It "woke up" that whole half of the tank while the Eheim side remained...blah.

But I had read about using it as a refugium in saltwater nano tanks, 10 gallons and up. One guy even fitted it to his 8 gallon nano tank. Many talked about reducing the flow on it so instead of bothering with all that I just left it off of the 10 gallon saltwater tank I had at the time.....but it always stayed in the back of my mind. Well I should have tried it because the only mod I've had to make on it is cut the intake tube because that was too long. :good:
