Apple Snails

Roughly how old are apple snails before they can begin breeding? (and what size corresponds to that age roughly).

I dont know if this helps mine were the size of a 2 pence piece when they started laying.

I'm just wondering cos I'm gettimg more than one, but they are babies and I'll separate them into differnt tanks. I just don't want too many snails is all.

You will need one of each sex. Apple snail eggs are easy to spot as they are a clump above the water line. Mine usually lay theirs just under the lid. If you don't want loads just remove the eggs, also not all will hatch.

I knew about laying the eggs above the surface, for me that is their appeal cos I can remove them easily.

I was tempted to put two snails together but I'm not sure.

What colour have you got, from my mix of 6 I've got some lovely colour combo's.

None yet, I was going to get one purple one, and one pink one. I can pick up the normal yellow ones from any local shop really if I wanted one.
