I removed the Lace's to another tank as they were ust being eaten up by the Younger Snails

Any pointers

Problem Solved, Caught the Huge Black Apple Snail demolishing the lovely Amazons i got.
He has been moved to the breeding tank outdoors

Well done! :good: Was it caught red-handed?
Is it one of those huge Cana species? I read that the normal Bridgesii species don't eat plants.

Yeah i think it is.

Its Black with Brown/Yellow/Green bands.

He/She is Huge Bigger than a Golf Ball.

WOW  Big snail you got there. I wish I could get my apple snails to live but they keep dieing 2 or 3 days after I get them.

Tip on gettin your apple snails the size of tennis balls is to feed them canned spinach .. I once just put all the spinach in a 5 gal tank with only the snail, ate it all and grew HuGE!

I grow Spinach, Never though of feeding it to the snails. thanks for the idea,

Is it the giant apple snails that munch plants? Can't remember their name. I notice my red rams eat the shoots of my lilly but sometimes this is good as it can control the amount of lilly pads reaching the surface.

i think it is the giant ones.

My brig apple snails did eat a small sprig of some plant, but this took a while.
As for giant apple snails, there are many sp. out there, some classified as giants at 2", some classified as giants at 5". I guess that all apple snails bigger than brings will be called giants. From the best of my knowledge, Pomacea brigsii effusa is just about the only apple snail that does not eat plants in general, all of the others will.

the three most common apple snails in the uk are the pomacea bridgesii these dont eat plants, the asolene spixi also none plant eaters, the largest of these snails is the pomacea canaliculata these do eat plants and can grow to the size of an apple.
