apple snails?

ok insted of gettin a 2 gallon hex i was going to get with my $25, i'm goin to get a nother 10 gallon tank with lid and light, and a under gravel filter, along with 2-3 snails. my question is would 2-3 snails breed easy in a non heated tank with 5 gallons of water? i say the tank will be around 55-60 degrees f. is this ok, i'll be doing a 3 gallon water change every week, and feed them every other day with some letuce. ohhh and if i can't get a lid with light would this still be ok for the snails?
