if i introduced an apple snail to my community tank would it go around eating my plants??

ok cheers, i'll try that. (cucumber that is)

Think i'll give the dead fish a miss

Mine's very well behaved, the only thing it does as far as the plants go is clean the algae off them :good: . I feed it mostly catfish pelets, algae wafers and cucumber slices  .

thanks guys i need to get more catfish pellets tomorrow anyway so i'll pick the snail up while im there.

They also enjoy microwaved or frozen plain spinich, collard greens, dandilions (as long as there is no fertiler or weed killer on them) - pretty much anything green that you or a rabbit could eat.

Briggs can't eat fresh foods - they don't have the mouths for them. So soft foods like fresh cucumber or zucchini work, and so do mushy cooked/frozen. Canas (no longer available in the US) and Marisas (also known as ramshorn snails) will eat EVERYTHING they can find.

Feed 'em well and they'll get to the size of golf balls.

I found my apple snails only started eating the plants when there wasnt enough food for them. When their eggs hatched there was hundreds of them and it was impossible for all of them to eat the pellets without the fish getting to them first. My amazon swords took a battering at that time.

Now that the numbers are down to just 2 in the tank i havent had a problem at all!

They can be a bit messy though.
