I might be wrong here because I dont keep them but Im sure Ive always seen them in cold water tanks in shops so Id say yes you can.

They can live in a cold water indoor tank which would be room temp, but i don't think they would last long in say an outside pond. This site http/www.snailshop.co.uk/html/care.html recommends 24-28 degrees celsious.
