Sorry, not strictly an emergency (unless you happen to be a snail, that is). I've just bought some chain botias on impulse (it's OK - I was looking for some small bottom feeders anyway). But I forgot that they aren't going to be distinguishing between nasty, evil, grey wild trumpet snails, and nice, cuddly, golden apple snails.

Anyone in UK fancy giving a home to some beautiful snails?

I have thought about getting some snails to help with a current green algae problem (I currently have 3 flying fox's, some new plants and phosphate remover on the case). Do Apple snails eat plants as well, or do they feed on algae and rotting plants only??

They only eat rubbish in the tank, not healthy plants.

jumpman - Unless your fish are in separate tanks, I wouldn't recommend putting snails in with clown loaches; they'll be dinner.

Awww Alien Anna why do you have to be in the UK!? :p I want some of those golden Apple Snails rather badly, but the only ones they have around here are either dead, or completely inactive. I've already taken a chance on one of the inactive ones and it died within a day. *sigh* Oh well, good luck finding them a new home.:)

surely three small (2 inches) clown loaches would have trouble with those big old apple snails????

I do have a spare tank anyway......Alien Anna, you ok to pop them in the post then??? :D
