i have a apple snail and i was looking at it one day and then the next it was gone, then about 2 days later i found it and it was on my side bench, about 2metres away from my tank, naturally i assumed it was dead but i still put it back in my tank and then a day passed and still no movement, i was going to take it out but i had something else to attend to then when i came back it was moving and now it is really healthy, this is really good news for me but is this normal for a snail to stay out of water for 2 days in australian weather standards (which is hot and dry).

Apple snails are actually quite resiliant creatures. I have had one survive for almost a whole month while I thought that my Oscars had eaten him. They have even been known to survive for around 220 days without being in water.

Depending on what species of apple snail you have it should either get to about the size of a golf ball (Pomacea bridgesii) or up to the size of a baseball (Pomacea canaliculata).

Aw, I'm glad your snail survived!

Trust me, you WILL know if they're dead. Just sniff them -- they smell like DEATH. Seriously, probably one of the worst smells I've ever experienced in my entire life. Haha.
