Apple Snail With Cracked Shell And Chip...

Hey everyone..

I was just looking at my very large apple snail and I noticed he has a crack across his shell and also a chip taken out of it and you can see through it to his body.

What could of caused this? I have noticed he is a bit clumsy and falls off things, but it couldnt possibly hit the floor that hard to cause a chip could he?

Is it fatal?

Will it repair itself?

I doubt it's from falling, unless it's out of the tank to your floor. Even if it falls from the water surface to a hard rock in your tank, there isn't enough velocity to deal any damage.

What's your PH? Low PH is usually the cause of weak or damaged shells.
