I saw an apple snail at the LFS today, I recognized it but knew little about it. I was interested in purchasing it but asked the guy who worked there if it would reproduce out of control (just a single one, I mean) and he said yes, they are hermaphroditic. I then read on a site, applesnail.net, that they are NOT hermaphroditic. Who is right?

They are not harmaphoditic although sperm packets may be passed between them to create a female whom spawns when conditions are correct. Apple snails are glorious provided you get ones of the bridgesi species as they don't eat plants
