Hi,

About 2 weeks ago my apple snails laid 2 clutches of eggs on my hood. Unfortunately during water change maintenance I knocked the lid a bit and one of the clutches has dropped into the water. I removed the eggs and have placed them into a tupperware box on a moist tissue, is this the right thing to do? The other clutch is still stuck fast.

Any suggestions with how to keep them out of the tank? what happens when they hatch, how long do I have to get them back in the water? At the moment they are a pink colour ...

Normally, when I accidentally dislodge my Apple eggs, I just float them on top of a piece of Styrofoam in the tank.... When they hatch.... they merely get off and "invade" the tank.... Depending on what fish you have in there.... They (should) survive.

Thanks for the info :) I have some styrofoam lying around somewhere, i'll give it a go!

A quick update, In the end I placed them on the edge of the filter box just above the waterline. I have had them all hatch, and another 4 batches after that! hundreds went into the water and the fish/loaches gobbled most, but I have about 4 surviving that are now larger than the fishes mouths! cool!

Good for you.... 4 are better than none..... ( I don't think your intentions are to breed them) but if you want literally hundreds to survive..... you obviously just syphon them out to a different container with lots of algae and periodically feed powdered fry foods.....
