How would you go about stopping them? Mine – in my cold water goldfish tank – lay a bunch of eggs, out of the water, on the underside of the lid, at least once a month. They look like a small wasps' nest. They must be out of the water to survive. After about a month, the babies will hatch and drop into the water. Good luck...

The snails must be about 1" in shell diameter and have an 1" or two above the waterline. As Eclecticoldsod says nature will take care of the rest.
