So I want to get a Ivory Mystery Snail for Ranger in his tank. I know he is more aggressive then laid back, since he attacked my oto fish. I've been reading some things and it all says that you can put a mystery snail with a betta. It's a five gallon tank he will be in with Ranger with two hiding places. I have algae pellets to feed him/her. Going to get him/her tomorrow and really need some replies fast! I don't have anywhere to put the mystery snail if he does attack her/him since I have a three gallon but it is still cycling.

Please let me know, thanks!

Also; Is there any specific colour I could get? I know I said Ivory, but I'm still deciding. I think our store sells Golden, Black, and MAYBE Blue along with Ivory. I'm just wondering which is the rarest out of all those, cause I wanna get something rare (Since most of my animals are common, it would be nice to have something rare!)

I advise against for two reasons: firstly, if your Betta is picky about companions, he is very likely to bite the snail's antenae/feelers, which would be quite cruel. Secondly, if an apple snail dies in a 5 gallon tank, it will release enough ammonia to kill your Betta, which is why one should really only keep apple snails in tanks that are 10 gallon or more in volume.

They do alright as long as there are hiding spots and are big enough not to get eaten. But KittyKat is also right, the betta will try to eat the snail.

Okay, so, I got a female betta and mystery snail at the same time. So he is in the tank with the female instead of Ranger. She's tried eating him a few times, but over all she's good with him. He fell over on his shell and I wanted to see what she would do. She just curiously stared at him, REALLY close. He didn't move until she went away, so she didn't try attacking him then. I think it's all good. :3

The female should be fine with it. A placid betta like that will probably mean no harm and even if it does, snails that size can retreat into their shells - that's what they're there for.
