Just a quick question, has anyone had any success growing this plant, if you did what were your tank conditions and how big did it grow ?

Thanks for that link, everything I've read previous to the posting always says how hard the plant is to grow so it puzzled me a bit as to why the guy who offered me some complained that it had died in his tank, maybe it is going through a dormant period.

I know Greenline sell them.

I like the look of them but they can dominate the tank a little when undormant.

i Had one of these it must have grown to aprox two foot tall (top of leaves were near the top of the tank) and must have been 8 inches across.

not a problem growing it at all

What sort of tank and filtration did you have, was there a lot of current in the tank, cause what I have read says that they come from moving water environment, presumably this helps the nutrient move around.

its a 60 gallon tank with a fair bit of water movement but not that much, i was running a fluval 405 and a rena xp2 on itit was in a sand substrate and i was adding trace with my weekly water changes.

The old guy who offered me the plant believe it or not has a heavily planted tank (been going for 20+ years) with a sand substrate, doesn't have a filter doens't believe in them and does NO WATER CHANGES, just tops up the water as and when it is needed !!!!

Says that the plants filter the water and take out the nitrates etc, no problem with fish either.

As there is no water movement this could be the reason why this particular plant has not succeeded in his tank.
