Apollo Shark

get big, you need a 4ft tank

though i think the rtbs may pic on it

There shouldnt be any problems between them, they occupy different areas of the tank and look vastly different from each other, the main targets of RTBS aggression are fish that are similar in body shape and colour and those that are direct competetion for territory at the bottom of the tank.

yeah they do look well different first apollo shark ive ever seen. the woman at the lfs did not know what it was, (pet city) they had the apollo shark with bala sharks..

I used to keep apollo sharks, and they're lovely fish. The species I kept was Luciosoma setigerum but I've seen that same fish listed in books as Luciosoma spilopleura and Luciosoma trinema, even though those are separate (and obviously different) species.

They don't get as big in even a 200 gallon tank as they would in the wild. About 15-20 cm seemed the maximum. They move very fast though, and are very adept jumpers. Yes, they're skittish, but not overly so, and they settle down quite easily. Eat anything, from pellets to small live foods. Will eat small fish, so choose tankmates with care. Absolutely must be kept in groups: they look stunning swimming in close formation. Their colours are amazing, and they have this lovely luminous, coppery, spot on their noses.

A red tail shark has no chance of catching up with one... they're lightning fast. Catching them with a net is nearly impossible unless you have someone helping with another net to drive them into yours.

I kept mine with sturdy species, chocolate cichlids, dwarf snakeheads, plecs, and so on.

Cheers,

Neale
