Apistogramma Viejita Bubble Game?

Been a while since i posted and I've nearly got everything ready for my journal thread.

But last night me and my house mates realised that one of the two female apistogramma viejita's doing something bizzar and has not stopped doing it since.
She is swimming over to the air stone, taking in air and then swimming over to her coconut cave that she has claimed for breeding and releasing the bubbles in there.

Is this natural behaviour for some reason? Is she causing harm to her self?
Most of all how the hell can i anchor the cave down, give her a few hours and its floating haha

weird that.......

drill a couple of holes in the top of the cave is easiest :)

Yeah very weird behaviour and i have never seen anything like this before, wondered if anyone else had seen anything like this within any fish species?

I'm only guessing here, but could she be mistaking the air bubbles for eggs? That would explain why she's insisting that they go 'back' into her cave.

Could you get a video of her doing it? I'd love to see it!

Im about to order a go pro hd 2 so i could film inside the tank anyway for a project. I know its not eggs, cause sometimes she can not make it back to the cave to release the bubble cause its making her too buoyant so she has to let go of it mid way. Its rather funny to watch. Just wondered if anyone had heard of such a thing :)

I was just about to post the very same question.. my viejita is doing exactly the same thing lol.. I already have a hole in the top of my coconut cave so it just floats right out of the top.. :) its really funny to watch :D

Thought this was a troll until someone else had the same thing ^
