Just wondering does anyone here purely run LEDs as their main light source in their aquarium?
Basically made a mistake a few years ago in buying a cheap imported aquarium rather than going with a more reputable brand, anyway, had a few problems with it in the past and now have come to find that the light unit is unsafe to use, (rubber around electric cable has somehow worn away? light connectors have corroded and condensation has got inside the unit)
Therefore I'm in need of a replacement light source, with an overhead unit of somekind looking to be my only option, as even if i could find an exact replacement hood, I'm not sure i would want another.
T5 is an option but all i can find at present are 2-4 bulb units which only work off one switch. If they had individual switches I wouldn't mind but given my fish are used to subdued lighting, (BGK, Dat, etc) then i don't really want to blind them with 160w of T5, when they are only used to 36w of T8 for most of the day.
tank is 150cm btw if anyone can suggest an alternative? or a T5 model with individual switches
