If you know it what is your thoughts on it

i don't think theyn care that much about the fish....after what i saw sunday :(

I used to use ashford quite a bit,i dont go there very often any more because i dont have space for anymore fish at the moment but used to buy a lot of my fish from there because they have a better selection than my lfs and are cheaper than MA.
What happened on sunday? I know sometimes they have quite a few dead fish in the tanks on sundays because the weekend staff can get a little overrun with customers and dont have the time to net them all out,and the odd fish dying in a shop that size is always going to happen.

Just they way the fish looked most of them looked ill and lathagic
When i went to have a look at the goldies they looked awful the heat was intense and you would of thought they would know haw to keep the tanks cool

About 3 of the marine tanks had no water movement i just thought it was bad

And to top it off he tryed charging nme £4.00p per metre for 14m tubing for my fluval 404 i nearly fell about lauging..... i won't be going back there neeless to say

i'm sticking to maidenhead aquatics they only charged me 2.30 a meter

where do you go now?

At the moment i only use my local shop Marks Water Garden in Teddington, the only thing i buy is live food and RO water.
With the heat weve been having its not really fair to judge them for the tanks been too warm, they do have 4 huge fans which circulate cold air around the shop but when its in the region of the low 30s outside there not really much anyone can do.
But i have to agree £4 for a few meters of tubing does sound a little steep, are you sure he gave you the right price?

Positive....thats why we went elsewhere

i still felt sorry for the fish they were miserable

its probably as i'm new to all this fish keeping lark i'm over sensitive

maidenhead just seemed so much more organised and the fish looked healthy

 this site should have a good place to raise concerns like this (no not sl** shops off)

My local store Fish 'r' us in Exeter is clean and has a great selection, ok for an experienced fish keeper I guess

However as a brand new fish keeper, and having not the slightest dot of info before I approached them (and making sure they where aware of how little I knew) I got differing info from every person working there and when I asked questions before thinking of buying (both before getting the tank, before buying my first fish and when looking at equipment/ food treatments) I could feel the environment of "oh not her" increase with each visit........and Im a nurse so its not like I was able to get there that often lol

Unfortunately their bad advice and my trust, and therefore lack of seeking other sources of information has left me with a siamese fighter (called Bert and whom I think of with great fondness lol) in a community tank, which I had expressed at the start I wished to have angels in as the end goal :(

correct me if I'm wrong but is asford aquatics anywhere near woolacomb?. I go there alot surfing and called in at a ashford garden centre which used to have a small aquatics (nothing special) but when I went last time they (the garden centre) was being done up.

No ashford aquatics is in Ashford middlesex, all in all i have found the shop to be quite good (as i said before) and much better than two others who i wont name but are in the same general area.
