hi,i got a pink tailed chalceus today.anyone else keep them????if so,post some pics please.

One word, skittish! Even in a tank full of hiding spaces, they go into a wild dash at the slightest provocation. My mate Andy had 3 in a 5' tank, within a year, 2 had killed themselves dashing into the end walls of their tank, the other damaged itself so badly, it had to be destroyed.

Andywg on here has a good sized shoal in his 180 gallon tank, i kept them for a while too (Andywg now has mine) and as Lateral line says they are very very nervous fish, i had to get rid of mine as the fishroom environment was doing them no good as it made them even more nervous of people and they would freak out every time i entered the room.

Other than that they are a very nice and suprisingly preadatory fish which can fit alarmingly large fish into their mouths, dont keep them with anything less than half their body length or it might just disapeer, they are fairly non fussy with foods and will take a wide variety of frozen meaty foods.

thanks cfc.it seems ok at the moment,a lot less skittish than when i had 3 fairly large silver sharks.the tanks in the hall way so everyone is up and down all the time.hopefullyit will be ok.we'll see anyway.if any probs,i'll take it back to the lfs and get another delhezi/lapradei/ornate.thanks once again for your advice :good:
